GOLDEN APPLE STATUTE

Preamble

“La Pomme d’Or” or “The Golden Apple” is the FIJET equivalent of the Oscar. This award for excellence is presented each year to an organization, country, city, local destination, site or person in recognition of superior efforts in promoting and raising the level of tourism.

All nominated candidates are under consideration by the FIJET Board. The Board consists of journalists from 28 countries all over the world.

Article 1: National Associations, Executive members and the Board of Directors members as well as Business circles, NGO, governments and local authorities may present nominations to the Golden Apple award.

Article 2: Application form is located on the FIJET website. Anyone interested could fill in the form. The application form should be sent with a cover letter to individuals and institutions after a Sub-Committee decision.

Article 3: The application form (signed by authorized body) should be addressed to the Chairperson of the Golden Apple Committee with a copy to the President and the SG of FIJET.

Article 4: The Committee will study each received application form and will take the appropriate decision which one should be tabled to the Board of Directors.

Article 5: The decisions of the Committee and of the Board can be taken during the meetings of the two bodies, and electronically (electronic voting) by mail or through the FIJET website by a majority (50% of the votes +1).

Article 6: The Chairperson of the Sub-Committee presides over meetings of the Sub-Committee. When the Chairperson cannot be present, he or she appoints a member of the Sub-Committee to chair the meeting.

Article 7: Decisions of the Sub-Committee are taken by a majority of votes. The Chair- person’s vote is decisive in the event of a tie vote.

Article 8: Members of The Sub-Committee may be represented at any meeting by Proxy

Article 9: The Chairperson of the Sub-Committee appoints the person who will report on each nomination.

Article 10: No more than two Awards will be awarded during the same year. Any exception to this restriction should be voted on by the Board of Directors.

Article 11: The nominated host should offer accommodation and transportation for at least three officials who will represent Fijet in the official Golden Apple ceremony.

Article 12: The host is obliged to prepare a minimum two press-releases (one before the event and the second after). The banner on fijetworld.org is recommended.


THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

The Golden Apple candidates should:

  1. have considerable contribution to the contemporary tourism;
  2. promote and raise the level of tourism;
  3. have serious importance for the country or for the local community;
  4. exhibit an important interchange of human, historical and cultural values;
  5. keep traditions alive, respects human beliefs;
  6. show great concern for human health and the environment;
  7. contain natural phenomena or areas of exceptional natural beauty;
  8. help people to travel easier and more convenient and easy access to the values ​​of civilization.
  9. organize transport, accommodation and program for the ceremony, and to fulfill all the conditions for the bestowing the prize.
